Weslaco - Michael Anthony Trejo Jr., 30, stepped into the arms of Jesus after a short, hard fought battle with brain cancer. Born November 18th, 1986 at McAllen Medical Center, Michael was the eldest of three children to Janette Zambrano and Michael Anthony Trejo Sr. He was his mother's right arm and the role model for sister Vanessa and little brother Matthew. Michael had a passion in life; a love for music which began during 6th grade. It was then he joined band and began to refine his gift of music. Michael's passion for music took him from a drum major to an accomplished clarinetist in district and state level band competitions. His musical accomplishments paid off when he earned scholarship to Texas A&M Kingsville where he graduated with a dual major in music and education. Michael's philosophy, "Nothing comes easy and anything worth having is worth working for" exemplified his character and was instilled into the lives of his students. During his four years as a band teacher his work ethic was recognized, respected, and appreciated by his peers and students. Michael focused on setting and achieving his goals which was the motivation which led to him playing in the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival during the summer of 2015; a coveted spot that was earned. Michael's gift was shared with others as he participated in several symphonies and volunteered at the First Lutheran Church in Edinburg. His favorite past-time was watching movies; especially Disney movies. His goal of vacationing to Disney World and completing a Master's degree may have been cut short, but his dreams will live in the hearts and minds of those who love him. Michael is preceded in death by his great-grandparents,Manueal & Gumecinda Martinez, Celedono Montes, Margaret Montes, and step-father Michael Standard. Michael is survived by his mother Janette Brooks (Steven) of Weslaco, his father Michael Anthony Sr. of Weslaco, sister Vanessa Orta, niece Emma Orta, brother Mathew Tyler Trejo, grandparents Augustina Zambrano of Weslaco, Felix and Gloria Angulo of Weslaco, uncles Joe Zambrano (Eunice) of Edinburg, Jerry Zambrano of Utah, Jacob Luera of Dallas, Adrian Martinez (Mary) of Michigan, Steven Angulo (Tina Mae) of Weslaco, Abel Angulo (Jessica) of Weslaco, and numerous cousins. Michael will be remembered as a jovial, hardworking, stern music instructor who instilled confidence while demanding his students to perform their best; yet, his personality of a tender, sensitive, loving man shone in how he met the needs of others. Michael achieved more in 30 years than most people accomplish in life.
