Nancy Jane (Whittemore) Flinton known affectionately as Nana or Nana Nancy, passed away on May 3, 2024, in Mercedes, TX at the age of 82, she was born on February 27, 1942, in Gardner Massachusetts to Frances Whittemore and Edith LaChance.
Nancy proudly served in the Navy and was a dedicated veteran. She found joy in traveling during her younger years and later pursued a career in education. Nancy was a teacher in the Donna School System for 20 years, retiring in 2010. She impacted the lives of many students during her time as an
educator.
A member of Jubilee Christian Fellowship for approximately 30 years, Nancy was deeply involved in the church's growth, serving as a secretary and ensuring the church was well-maintained. She cherished her church family and spent countless hours serving the congregation.
In her free time, Nancy loved reading, gardening, and spending time with family, neighbors, and her beloved fur baby, Bella. She passed on her passion for books to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed being a part of the Red Hat Ladies group. She was a warm and loving presence to all who knew her.
Nancy is survived by her son Bruce Flinton (wife Mary) of NJ, Daughter Robin Flinton of Weslaco, TX, brothers Bob Whittemore and David Whittemore of Florida, Niece Renee Schneider of Florida, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild expected in October 2024. She also leaves behind many friends whom she considers family.
Nancy was preceded in death by her sister Joyce Anderson, niece Melody Umstead, niece Nadine Lasky, and nephew Darren Whittemore.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 16, 2024, at 7:00 pm at Jubilee Christian Fellowship located at
