Weslaco- Nazario Peña, 77, passed away on Saturday, October 12th, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. He was born on February 5, 1942, to Nazario Peña Sr. and Delfina Cavazos Peña in Mexico.
He migrated to Weslaco when he was a young teenager and spent the rest of his life in Weslaco, where he raised six children. He worked countless hours to support his family and set a great example of a good leader and role model.
Nazario enjoyed working in the yard and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy football fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Nazario is preceded in death by his parents, Nazario Sr. and Delfina Peña, grandson, Joshua Peña, and sisters, Aurora Peña, Elvia Mata, Irma Fuentes, and Francisca Peña.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena Gonzalez, children, Idalia Peña Rios (Daniel Jr. ), Jesus Manuel Peña, Federico Peña, Imelda Peña, Nasario Peña III (Rosalinda), and Iselda Peña, his friend and mother of his children, Ercilia Peña, brother, Ramón Peña, grandchildren, Jesus Peña Jr., Yvette Peña, Christopher Peña, Megan Rios, Daniel Rios III, Roxanne Peña, Federico Peña Jr., Rhonda Peña, Jesus Peña Jr., Andrew Peña, Desiree Garcia, Matthew Garcia, Angelica Garcia, Jose Garcia, Jared Hernandez, and Nathan Peña, and numerous great grandchildren.
