Nora Cavazos, a beloved homemaker, passed away on August 15, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Nora was born on August 16, 1961, in Rancho la Palma Municipio Matamoros to Roman Salinas Garcia and Maria de los Angeles Jimenez.

 

Nora's life revolved around her loved ones, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was especially fond of her two grandsons, Emilio Jr. "EJ" and Emmie Rae Flores, whom she adored and nurtured affectionately. Nora's warm embrace and genuine interest in their lives will forever remain a cherished memory for them.

 

As a homemaker, Nora found purpose in creating a loving and nurturing environment for her family. She took great pride in her role as a mother to Nora Cavazos and Aimee Cavazos. Her dedication to providing comfort and care created countless memories that will continue to resonate within their hearts.

 

Nora was a great cook. Her specialized recipes were sought after by family and friends alike. The aroma of carne guisada simmering on the stove or the sight of freshly made corn tortillas displayed the love she poured into every dish she prepared. Nora's talent for transforming simple ingredients into mouth-watering meals brought joy and happiness to those lucky enough to savor her creations.

 

In addition to being an exceptional cook, Nora enjoyed playing lotería, which brought laughter and excitement to countless gatherings. Her enthusiasm during these games was infectious, uniting loved ones while creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

 

Nora's strong personality resonated throughout her actions; she faced life with unwavering strength and remained faithful through every hurdle. She instilled values of perseverance, kindness, and dedication. 

 

Outside of her family life, Nora found solace in spirituality. She enjoyed listening to religious songs and fervently prayed the rosary. These moments of introspection brought her comfort and served as a source of strength during challenging times. Nora's unwavering faith was a guiding light that illuminated the path for those around her.

 

Nora was preceded in death by her parents, Roman Salinas Garcia and Maria de los Angeles Jimenez, and her siblings, Aida Aracelia Infante, Julio Secar Salinas and Rosa Elena Abarca.

 

She is survived by her loving husband, Eli, devoted daughters, Noraeli Cavazos and Aimee Cavazos, two grandchildren, Emilio "EJ" Jr. and Emmie Rae Flores, her siblings, Elizabeth Garcia, Noe Salinas, Alonso Salinas, Saul Salinas, Nohemi Hinojosa, Maria E. Gutierrez, and Jose Luis Salinas.

 

Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2023, 1-9 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 18th, 10 am, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco, followed by burial at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
