WESLACO - Norman Elroy Frantz, 76, passed on April 1, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Norman, son of Roy and Mary Ellen Frantz, was born on June 5, 1941, in Johnsville, Ohio. His brother Martin Frantz of Greenville, Ohio precedes him in death. He is survived by his wife Susan Frantz and his eight children, Dan, Doug, Kristie, Jessica, Suzette, Kenneth, Joseph and Trisha, and his seven grandchildren Tyler, Dustin, Amber, Tristan, Doss, Harley, and Bernice. He is also survived by brother Charlie Frantz and Renee Frantz Wenger, both from Ohio. Norman and Susan together started the Weslaco Farmers Market that has been in business for over 30 years and still thrives today. People across the entire Rio Grande Valley, throughout Texas and thousands of winter Texans, bought their produce from Norman each and every year. Those that knew Norman instantly recognized him by his cowboy hat and boots, his passion for making deals and his unwavering love for his family. He loved to drive his cars, most of the time over the speed limit, with his latest obsession being his green Lincoln that he drove daily around Weslaco. Norman was an incredible father to his kids and taught each and every one of them the value of hard work that will surely be passed on to future generations. His work ethic was second to none and he was a true salesman, even though the final days of his life. In fact, he's probably already making deals with God Himself. While he will forever be remembered for his ability to get the best deal each and every time, Norman was much more than a deal maker. He was a husband, a father, an entrepreneur, a mentor, and most importantly a friend to anyone in need. The world just lost a great man.
