Weslaco - Ofelia Morales was born June 11, 1936 to Roberto and Antonia Blanco in Brownsville, Texas. She married Julian Castañeda Morales in 1965 and had three children, Dalila Rivas, Esteban Morales, and Daniel Morales. She is survived by her six grandchildren Michael Julian Morales, Jacob Alan Morales, Amorette Elizabeth Rivas, Kelshall Rivas Jr., Nakima Rivas, and Mishak Rivas. Ofelia has three children, six grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She was very close to her two nieces Anita E. Kellogg and Dalila M. Kellogg, whom she regarded as daughters and who were her closest relatives and caretakers. She loved her grandnieces and grandnephews, Atanacio (Tony) Hernandez, Aric Nicolas Hernandez, Ashley Justine Hernandez, Andrew James (Jimmy) Hernandez, and Anita Elizabeth (Baby) Barrera. Ofelia is survived by her brothers Israel Blanco and Robert Blanco and is preceded in death by her parents, Antonia and Roberto Blanco, her sisters Noemi (Mimi) Torres and Argentina (Tina) Lydia Kellogg, and her brother Rev. Daniel Blanco. Ofelia graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and was a school teacher by profession. She taught elementary school children in public schools in Toppenish, WA, Harlingen, TX, and Weslaco, TX. She was also a devoted Christian and served in multiple roles within her local church over her lifetime. She helped change the lives of many individuals and families with her witness and counsel. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 11am to 9pm at McCaleb Funeral Home, 900 W. 4th Street, Weslaco, TX 78596, with a Remembrance Service beginning at 7pm. Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10am at Mid-Valley Assembly of God, 131 S.Pleasantview Drive, Weslaco, TX 78596. Internment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 6705 North FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78596.
