Weslaco- Patricia Anne Brown April 3, 1936 – January 29, 2025

Patricia Anne Brown, affectionately known as Pat, was born on April 3, 1936, in Evanston, Illinois, at Saint Francis Hospital. On the morning of January 29, 2025, at the age of 88, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Carl Ahrens and Helen Mae (Hall) Ahrens; her siblings, Richard Lee Ahrens, Harold Carl Ahrens Jr., and Susan Marie Ahrens; and her beloved daughter, Geraldine Kay (Brown) Solomon.

Pat’s legacy lives on through Geraldine’s children, Shannon Rose Solomon and Neal Alexander Solomon; her daughter, Sherry Lynn (Brown) Ballard, and her husband, Garry Lee Ballard, along with their children, Kayla Anne (Ballard) Raleigh and Laura Mae (Ballard) Chavez; and her son, Thomas Eugene Brown, and his wife, Cynthia Brown, with their children, Thomas James Brown, Timothy Eugene Brown, and Travis Michael Brown. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren—Cody Lee Raleigh, Elizabeth Anne Rodriguez, Emily Grace Rodriguez, Jax Brown, Soraya Eydis Chavez, and Isla Brown—as well as several nieces and nephews.

After graduating high school, Pat pursued accounting school before moving to Madison, Wisconsin, where she met Roger Ira Brown. Together, they built a life, raising their children in Marengo, Illinois, before settling in South Texas in 1981.

Pat found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a deep love for the outdoors and a natural gift for nurturing plants, earning her a well-deserved reputation for having a green thumb. Animals held a special place in her heart, and she shared a deep connection with them. She was known for her warmth, quick wit, and ability to bring laughter to any situation—even if it was at her own expense.

An exceptional cook and dedicated homemaker, Pat took great pleasure in canning fruits, vegetables, jams, and jellies, with pickled watermelon rinds and bread-and-butter pickles among her specialties. She loved experimenting with new recipes and sharing meals with those she loved.

Above all, Pat’s faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, remained unwavering throughout her life. Her kindness, resilience, and love will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
