Pharr: Patrick Isai Martinez, 22, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, at DHR in Edinburg due to complications from Covid. On August 10, 1999, Patrick was born to Patricio Martinez and Maria del Carmen Vega in McAllen, Texas. Patrick grew up in Pharr and was active on the PSJA football team during his high school years. Patrick was a talented welder and was always striving to improve his welding skills, earning his Welding Certificate from South Texas College, along with his Associate's Degree in 2017. In addition, he was a great cook and worked for the Bistro Kitchen at Cinemark Theatre, where he loved to learn new recipes. Patrick had recently attended classes to earn his CDL, class B, and was only one exam short of the finish line. Patrick had plans of starting a career as a bus driver for Donna ISD.
Pat's hobbies included gaming, cooking, movies, and spending time with his family. He loved to game on his PlayStation, and his favorite game was Destiny. His favorite way to cook was with a cast-iron skillet, and one of his famous recipes was Gochujang Chicken. Patrick was a movie buff, but he saw almost all of the Quentin Tarantino movies. Patrick also had an old Toyota Corolla and had plans to restore and fix it up.
Patrick was a practical, easy-going guy. He didn't like drama or stress. Patrick's friendships were selective but very genuine. He was honest and very protective of his little brother Cruz.
Patrick is preceded in death by his father, Patrico Martinez, who passed away ten days earlier from cancer.
Partick is survived by his mom, Maria de Carmen Vega, sisters, Dulce Martinez (Andres), Marcelina Martinez(Eduardo), Giselle Trujillo, and Brihanna Patricia Martinez, brothers, Cruz Martinez and Narcisso "Natito" Martinez, and his beloved German shepherd, Tyson.
Visitation will be Friday, October 8th, 10 am-9 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 pm. The prayer service will be live-streamed via youtube. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, October 9th, 10 am, at McCaleb Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
