Polly was born October 2, 1926, to Elmer and Mildred Dailey in Vanport, Pennsylvania, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 24, 2021, in Weslaco, Texas. She is survived by her four children Bill, Jeff, and wife Elaine, Kim, and husband Van, and Marylou, as well as 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Polly grew up in Pennsylvania with her brother “Bud” and her sister Delores. Polly married her sweetheart, Lewis Lovell on June 1st, 1946. They were married for 51 years until his passing on April 11, 1998.
After Lew’s retirement from the military and entrance into the banking world, they lived in southern California and Seattle until finally becoming Texans moving to Weslaco in 1993, which was Polly’s 27th and final move.
Polly lived a servant’s life – always putting others before herself. While raising children Polly was always serving, working in the Little League concession stand, being the Campfire leader, helping out with Boy Scouts, volunteering with vacation Bible school each summer, these were a few of the ways Mom was always involved in our activities. Polly continued serving for the better part of her life until she was no longer able. Two areas of service that Mom cherished were her hours volunteering at Knapp Hospital auxiliary and the Weslaco Historical Museum. Polly had over 5000 service hours at the hospital and served as the Auxiliary President.
Polly was blessed with rich friendships throughout her life. Mom and Dad had friendships that went coast to coast. Mom loved keeping in touch with people writing letters or long phone calls. When her friends had passed away she often kept in touch with their grown children. Along with her family, her friends have lost a treasure in Polly.
After Lew’s passing, Polly traveled the world with several of her dear friends visiting Ireland, England, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Costa Rica, and Greece. Mom loved getting to see locations she had read about or had seen in movies.
She lived her life in a way that the Lord can say to her, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Matt. 25:21.)
