Weslaco- Petra Gallego de Rojas, 74, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, January 13th, 2018, at her home. She was born on January 9th, 1944 to Faustino and Julia Gallegos in Tula, Tamaulipas, Mexico, where she was raised. She met her future husband, Pablo when she was 20 years old and they were married at the age of 25. They raised eight children in Mexico but would migrate to Weslaco in 1988, where they would spend most of their lives. They migrated to Florida for work and Petra worked as a seamstress. In Weslaco, Petra worked several years for Pioneer Warehouse, while Pablo worked in farming and agriculture. Petra's favorite pastime was dancing. She and Pablo spent many weekends dancing with friends. She also loved playing bingo and chalupa. Petra was a bargain shopper and enjoyed going to the "pulga" and finding hidden gems at garage sales. She was a terrific cook and never let anyone leave hungry. Petra will always be remembered for her loving nature and commitment to her faith and family. She is admired and adored by her children and grandchildren. Petra is preceded in death by her parents, Faustino and Julia Gallegos, her loving husband of sixty years, Pablo Rojas, her grandchildren, Albert Lopez, Juan Francisco Baltazar and Emma Rojas. She is survived by her children, Griselda Limas (Jose) of Weslaco, Martha Rojas (Julio Sr.) of Weslaco, Magda Rojas of Weslaco, Dora Baltazar (Ruben Gonzalez) of San Benito, Miguel Rojas Sr. (Illiana) of Weslaco, Guadalupe Rojas Sr. (Rosa Garcia) of Weslaco, Pablo Rojas Sr. (Sonia) of Weslaco, and Juan Baltazar Sr. (Maria) of Elsa, sister, Victoria Yañez of Houston, grandchildren, Jose Limas Jr. (Susana), Edward Limas, Axel Limas, Jesus Rojas, Allison Rojas, Eric Rojas (Erica), Carmen Martinez (Miguel), Sylvia Castillo (Phillip), Brenda Castillo (Rafael), Melissa Castillo, Karina Castillo, Miguel Rojas Jr., Priscilla Rojas, Mauricio Rojas, Guadalupe Rojas Jr., Efrain Rojas, Nereida Zapata (Andres), Randy Rojas, Miguel Rojas, Aviel Rojas, Edgar Rojas, Yesenia Rojas, Mariana Rojas, Julissa Rojas, Pablo Rojas Jr. (Marisella), Luis Angel Rojas (Daisy), Hernan Rojas, Christian Rojas, Gabriella Rojas, Ana Laura Tovar (Mario), Juan Baltazar (Denise), Maria Baltazar (Juan Naranjo), and Patty Baltazar, 57 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 15th from 11am-9pm, with a rosary at 7pm at McCaleb Funeral Home chapel. Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 16th at 10am at San Martin de Porres in Weslaco. Burial will follow at Weslaco City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Alonzo, Jose Limas Jr., Miguel Rojas. Miguel Rojas, Pablos Rojas, and Juan Baltazar.
