Ramona Bustos Luna
Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister
Ramona B. Luna, 82 of Weslaco, Texas was called home by the Lord on May 1, 2015 with her family at her side. She was born on September 12, 1932 to Domingo and Dora (Rivera) Bustos of Weslaco and was the eldest of three daughters of the Bustos family. A lifelong resident of Weslaco, Ramona loved children, valued education and in her early life was a teacher at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic School. In 1962, she married Alejandro Luna of Weslaco, Texas with whom she started a family and shared a loving marriage. She later enjoyed working with special needs children with Weslaco Independent School District. A strong woman, motherhood was her life's work and she selflessly cared for her family and her home.
She beamed with pride when she spoke about the city of Weslaco and felt a strong sense of patriotism for her country. Ramona enjoyed nature, watching birds and her flower gardens as she spent many hours sitting in her patio which she appropriately called "paradise". She had a sharp wit, great sense of humor, smiled often and absolutely loved community parades and festivals. Being a grandmother filled her with the most joy and she took every opportunity to spoil her grandchildren. Her love, caring and selflessness will be missed by many. Ramona is preceded in death by her husband Alejandro. She is survived by two sisters Santiaga Bustos and Catarina Misfeldt. She is also survived by her loving family, daughters Mona (David) Harter of Elkhart, Indiana, Martha Luna (Kevin Ayarzagoitia), Melinda and Miriam Luna; and son Alex (Noemi) Luna of Weslaco, Texas; seven grandchildren Noe Martinez-Harter of Saint Louis, Missouri, Robert and Cameron Harter of Elkhart, Indiana; Justin, Alex and Jayden Luna of Weslaco, Texas and Mason Luna of Round Rock, Texas. The family would especially like to thank her caregiver Isabel Lopez who provided her much comfort in her last days and also Dr. Leticia Volpe who provided quality medical care to her for over 20 years.
