Rene Franco

Weslaco-Rene Gomez Franco, 75, passed away on Monday, Christmas Day, December 25th, 2017. He was born on May 27th, 1942 to Ramon C. and Maria L. Franco. He is survived by his wife Idalia Franco, Nellie Franco, Rosario Franco, and Dora A. Franco. He married Idalia in 1967 and they settled in Elsa, Texas, where they raised three daughters together. Rene worked most of his adult life at the Elsa Housing Authority, where he retired after close to 40 years of service. Although Rene will most be remembered by his family for his work ethic, he also loved to relax after work. He was a lover of life and made lots of friends along the way. He enjoyed playing pool with friends and even competitively. Rene was a lot of fun, but he was also very generous man. He had a genuine love of life, friends and family. Rene is preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Maria L. Franco and his sisters, Olivia Sifuentes, Estela Hinojosa(Alvaro+), and Elida Salinas (Rogelio). Father and Mother In-Law preceded in death, Rafael and Julia Galvan, brothers in law, Roel Galvan, Ruben Galvan, Rene Galvan, and sister in-law Eglantina Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife, Idalia, daughters, Nellie Franco, Rosario Franco, and Dora Franco, all of Weslaco, his sisters, Maria L Franco, Hilaria F Ramos (Marcelo+), Ofelia F Hinojosa (Ovidio), Margarita F. Melchor (Felipe) from Soledad, California, Olga F Rios (Santiago+) from Soledad, California, brother, Guadalupe Franco (Alma). Sister in-law, Minerva Lozano. Grandchildren, Jacklynn R. Herrera, Jazmin Herrera, Jay A. Franco, Jayke Franco, Roman R. Lozano, Ramses R. Lozano, Karina Reyes, and Katyah Reyes. He also had many nieces and nephews.
