Weslaco- Ricardo Hinojosa Sr., 67, went home to be with his LordSunday, December 9th, 2018, at Saint Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones. Ricardo was born in Edinburg, TX to Federico Hinojosa Sr. and Zulema Trevino Hinojosa. He grew up in Edinburg, with his brother, Federico Jr. Ricardo joined the U.S. Airforce shortly after high school, where he served during the Vietnam War. When he returned, he met his future bride, Sylvia Perez, when they were both working at Sonic. They were married in 1978 and settled in Weslaco, where they raised four boys together. After a few years working in different industries, Ricardo became a Deputy Sheriff for Hidalgo County where he worked seven years. Most people will remember him most for his twenty years of service at the United States Postal Service where he worked as the area steward until his retirement in 2012. Family was always critical to Ricardo. He and Sylvia were able to travel to Alaska and Hawaii and every summer, the whole family would go all over the country. He also loved spending time at his ranch in San Isidro and watching football. He was a Houston, Texan fan. Ricardo will always be remembered for his wit and humor. He always had a joke to tell and was rarely seen without a big smile on his face. Family was his focus, and his grandkids were the center of his life. He spent as much time as possible with them, telling jokes that they will be able to repeat for many years to come. Ricardo is preceded in death by his parents, Federico Sr. and Zulema Hinojosa, aunts and uncles, Arturo and Romana Hinojosa, Eva E. Hinojosa and Adan Hinojosa, all of Edinburg.
