San Juan-Roberto Garza, 36, gained his wings on July 22, 2020, at Rio Grande Regional in McAllen. Robert was born on May 4, 1984, to Ruben and Abelina Garza in Edinburg, Texas. He grew up in San Juan surrounded by neighboring family; like his Uncle Chuy and Tia Chela. He attended PSJA high school, where he was active in sports and played football. Robert was never a small boy so he quickly learned the ropes & started clubbing in Reynosa with his sister Amy, his best friend Andy, and close cousins Ronnie, Cristy, and Rachael. He always stayed close becoming the life of the party but always protecting his family as well. He then met his future wife Shirley, and they became inseparable.
Rob & Shirley were a perfect team. After their first born son, Roberto Jr., was born, they decided to join Trust Family and pursue their rapping career. Together with his wife, Sweetz, Primo, Magic, and Young J they played for lots of events and enjoyed the entertainment industry. Although this was a highlight in their young lives, they gave this up to have another child, Anabel.
Rob was a great father and his children's number one fan. He coached Juni's teams and stayed very involved in his football games and powerlifting meets. He also supported Anabel and her pursuit of music, never missing a choir or band performance. He touched the lives of many kids, not just his own.
Big Rob loved his family and friends. He cooked out for everyone that would come around. Robert was very generous and often helped others in need. He was known to sacrifice numerous all-nighters cooking for fundraisers.
Robert spent the last several years managing for Papa John's in Sharyland and just recently was given the GM management role in Edinburg.
Roberto is survived by his parents, Ruben and Abelina Garza, his wife of eighteen years, Shirley, children, Roberto Jr. and Anabel, and sisters, Amy Garza and Cynthia O'Cana.
A visitation will be Sunday, July 26, at 3 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 4 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco.
