Weslaco: Roberto Peña, 69, passed away at his home in Weslaco. Roberto was born on May 21st, 1951, to Porfirio Peña Sr. and Elvira Saenz Peña in Weslaco, Texas. Roberto grew up in Weslaco, and after graduating from Weslaco Highschool, he went to work for Knapp Medical Center. He worked as surgical purchasing manager, retiring after over forty years of dedicated service to Knapp.
After retiring, Roberto loved to take it easy and relax. He enjoyed traveling, mostly if it involved gambling. Roberto had a special passion for music and listening to music was probably his favorite pastime. Roberto enjoyed his daily newspaper with a cup of coffee and a crossword puzzle. Roberto also loved family gatherings and spending time with his wife and grandchildren.
Roberto is preceded in death by his parents, Porfiro Sr. and Elvira Peña, brothers, Gilbert Peña and Felipe Peña and sister, Rosie Marquez.
Roberto is survived by his wife, Elva Peña, brothers, Rolando Peña (Mary) of Edinburg, Carlos Peña (Molly) of Weslaco, Jaime Peña (Gloria) of Edinburg, Porfirio Peña Jr. (Sara), of Rapid City, SD, George Peña (Mari) of San Juan, sisters, Dora Cavazos (Jesse) from California and Estella Peña of Weslaco, sister in law, Frances Peña, step-daugher, Tina Rodriguez, step-son, Milo Rodriguez Jr. (Nicole), grandchildren, Jazmyn Rodriguez, Evelyn Rodriguez, Austin Burrell, and Freddy Gonzalez, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 31st, 9 am-1 pm, followed by burial at Weslaco City Cemetery.
