Roel "Ronny" Caballero, Jr., passed away in a tragic accident while riding as the passenger on Friday, September 1, 2023, in San Marcos, Texas. Ronny was the youngest son, born on June 28, 1977, to Roel Sr. and Sylvia (Flores) Caballero.
Ronny grew up in Weslaco, where he attended school and graduated from Weslaco High School in 1995 and soon after relocated to the San Antonio. He had a natural talent for working with his hands and quickly found his passion as an electrician, which would become his lifelong career. Ronny worked in the electrical industry for various companies. He worked as a Construction Foreman for JMEG Electrical Contractors, then as the Head Electrician for Circuit of the Americas. Ronny spent the following three years as Foreman/Project Manager for Startech Electric but eventually became an independent contractor. Ronny was sought after in his field because of his expertise. He was passionate about his chosen field and constantly sought out growth opportunities. He studied tirelessly and was up to date on new techniques and technology. Ronny was also very generous and patient. Throughout his career, he helped countless apprentices learn the trade. As a result, these students became successful in their own right.
Known for his infectious positivity and radiant smile, Ronny never met a stranger. He had a way of brightening up any room with his joyous laughter. His optimistic outlook on life left an indelible mark on those who knew him. Ronny's warm-hearted nature drew people to him effortlessly.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ronny had an adventurous spirit that thrived in the great outdoors. Most weekends, he would spend time on the lake or river, tubing with his daughter, and enjoying nature. Additionally, he deeply loved family and friends and cherished every moment spent with them. Ronny's barbecues became legendary gatherings full of love, laughter, and, of course, sports. Ronny's favorites were football and soccer, and he was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
Not surprisingly, Ronny was a jack of all trades. He had a knack for fixing things, and Ronny would quickly learn what didn't come naturally.
Above all else, Ronny's most significant source of happiness was his daughter Reagan. She held a special place in his heart and was the driving force behind his dedication to providing her with the best life possible. He cherished every moment they shared.
Ronny is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Augustin and Pascuala Caballero, maternal grandparents, Manuel and Maria G. Flores, and father, Roel M. Caballero.
Ronny is survived by his loving mother, Sylvia Caballero; daughter, Reagan Caballero, sisters Marlene Caballero (Gussy Moreno III) and Lisa Garcia (David); brother, Carlos "Charlie" Caballero; nephew, Michael Garcia; nieces, Ashley Garcia and Jacqueline, Jaeda, Jules, and Jena Moreno, longtime girlfriend, Gina Johnson, and the mother of his daughter, Ronda Caballero, and numerous aunts and uncles. His absence is deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Ronny was not a friend to some; he was a friend to ALL.
