Rosalinda Maldonado, 56, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family. Rosalinda was the firstborn daughter of Jesus and Maria Villarreal in Brownsville, Texas, on October 30th, 1966.
Rosalinda grew up in Donna with her four siblings. She was the second mom to her four younger siblings, and they all looked up to their big sister. Rosalinda met her soulmate, Fernando Maldonado when she was seventeen. They were married in 1984 and spent the rest of their lives together.
Fernando worked hard so Rosalinda could be a full-time mom to their son and daughter. Rosalinda was a great homemaker, and her meals were delicious. She made the best pappas con carne and tortillas de harina. She also enjoyed barbacoa, pizza, and wings.
Rosalinda was outgoing and friendly, and her personality was powerful. She loved music, dancing, and singing. Rosalinda and Fernando enjoyed spending the day at the beach and fishing. She also enjoyed watching action movies.
Rosalinda remained close to her siblings and loved babysitting her nieces and nephews. She lovingly had nicknames for lots of family members, like “Pappito,” “Papucho,” “Chimichuro”, and her grandson “Peanut.”
Rosalinda was Catholic and had tremendous faith and determination.
She is survived by her parents, Jesus Sr. and Maria Villarreal; her husband, Fernando Maldonado Sr.; daughter, Mireya Maldonado (Victor De la Rosa); son, Fernando Maldonado Jr. (Iliana); siblings, Jesus Villarreal Jr. Alicia Villarreal, Maria Olvera (Mario), and David Villarreal (Clara), grandson, Victor “Peanut” De la Rosa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 18th, from 10 am-9 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco.
