Rose Marie Rose, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away on February 14, 2025, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX. Rose was born on July 6, 1940 in Boston, MA.
Rose had a way of making every room brighter, every moment funnier, and every gathering feel like a party, so to say she will be dearly missed would be an understatement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Leroy, her siblings, Margaret Gurley, Rita Barrett, Mildred Condon, Joan Coppel, Alice Beritti, Charles Leroy, Richard Leroy and Daniel Leroy.
Rose leaves behind her sons, Steve Holley of Weslaco and Jeff Holley (Brenda) of Robstown, her grandchildren April Howington of Corpus Christi, Kristina Graves (Clayton) of Robstown, Courtney Holley of San Antonio, Samantha Holley of Weslaco and James Holley of Round Rock, and her great grandchildren, Riley Howington, Callie Graves, Hayden Graves, Jaxon Graves, Haddie Graves, Michael Holley, Mia Holley, Sterling Holley and Holley Garza.
Rose moved to Weslaco in 1958 to marry a Navy boy she met in Boston. She was ready to leave behind Boston and start a new life. She never looked back. She made her home in Weslaco where she raised her boys and took care of her family.
Shortly after moving to Weslaco, she went to work for the Weslaco Independent School District as an Assistant Librarian and worked there for over 35 years. She loved working with the kids and cherished her time at the district. She enjoyed meeting new people and making friends everywhere she went.
Rose also found beauty in the simple pleasures of life – gardening, spending time with her dogs, and listening to classic country. She also loved her margaritas, puzzles, and working out on her elliptical, but most of all, Rose loved to dance. She was in the Rita Robertson School of Dance for many years. She also taught dance there to the little ones.
Rose had a resilient way about her and it reflected in her love for her family. She was a caretaker who loved and gave all she could to those in need. And her relationship with her granddaughter and best friend, Sam, was something truly special.
Rose’s memory will remain an everlasting blessing to her loved ones, and her laughter, light, and spirit will be carried in their hearts forever.
