Ruben was born on October 26, 1964, in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas to his parents Ruben Espinoza Sr. and Beatriz Ibarra Espinoza. His maternal grandparents Jose Maria Espinoza and Maria Ibarra Espinoza, paternal grandparents Monico Espinoza and Manuela Elizondo, and his nephew Jaime Eli Espinoza precede him in death. He is survived by his parents Ruben Espinoza Sr. and Beatriz Ibarra Espinoza, his sisters Ludim (Ventura) Zavala of Weslaco, Raquel (Mario) Garcia of Donna, Ruth (Leonel) Rodriguez of Weslaco, and his brother Moises (Raquel) Espinoza of Weslaco, numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruben served in the United States Marine Corp in 1985. After being honorably discharged, Ruben attended Pan American University and the Rio Grande Valley Institute.
Ruben valued knowledge and was a skilled tradesman working primarily with his hands. He was a masterful mechanic. He was creative in wood and metalworking projects. Ruben was a man of many talents and excelled in any action he put his mind to. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. Ruben was a horticulturist and enjoyed cultivating and maintaining his gardens. Ruben's favorite pastime was fishing which he enjoyed doing with his family and friends.
Ruben will be remembered as a man that prioritized his family. His sense of humor was unmatched and he enjoyed making others laugh. His wisdom will live on through the memories he leaves behind. Ruben had a huge heart and cared deeply for those around him.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 29th, 10:00 am-9:00 pm, with a 7:00 p.m. memorial service at McCaleb Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Friday, June 30th, at McCaleb Funeral, with a burial to follow at Weslaco City Cemetery with full military honors.
