Ruben Roman, 55, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and devoted friend, passed away on November 29, 2024, at Knapp Medical Center. He was born on December 11, 1968, in Weslaco, Texas, where he lived his life with a spirit that radiated warmth and kindness.
Ruben worked hard and was self-employed for most of his career. He worked and owned Hot Shots, worked as a mechanic, and later in the oil refinery.
But most importantly, his loving, caring, and kind-hearted nature profoundly impacted those lucky to know him. His distinct voice and ever-present smile created an inviting atmosphere that brought joy to everyone around him. Ruben was also charismatic, outgoing, and family-oriented.
In his free time, Ruben pursued many hobbies that brought him happiness. He was passionate about cooking and enjoyed preparing meals for those he loved. An avid movie critic, he enjoyed sharing his insights and opinions on films with family and friends. Ruben had a deep appreciation for the outdoors; he cherished moments spent traveling, fishing, and hunting, always eager to explore the beauty of nature. Some of his favorite fishing spots were Lake Michigan and South Padre Island. Ruben also enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys with family and friends.
Ruben was very spiritual and a God-fearing Christian who practiced his faith walk daily. This was the most essential part of his life.
Ruben is preceded in death by his father, Rogelio Roman Sr., brother, Ramiro Roman, and nephew Eleazar Roman.
He is survived by his loving mom, Maria P. Roman; his life partner, Adriana Trujillo; siblings, Rosalinda Rios, Rogelio Roman Jr., Roberto Roman, Rachel Roman, Melissa Reyes; children Kristian Hawkshaw, Ruben Roman Jr., and Emily Roman; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on December 4, 2024, at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. The following day, December 5, 2024, a Mass will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, also in Weslaco, beginning at 10:00 AM. Ruben will then be laid to rest during a burial service at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes, Texas, starting at 11:00 AM.
Ruben Roman's legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of sharing moments with him.
