Ruth A Nichols

November 29, 1937 — July 13, 2016

McAllen-Ruth A. Nichols, 78, daughter of Walter & Elsie Kardell (both deceased) passed away on July 13, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. She had two older brothers and one younger brother, also all deceased. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nichols. They were married for 34 years before he passed away in 2015. Ruth was the mother of two daughters, Darla Angelbeck (husband: Donald) and Lee Ann Dials (husband: Edward). Lee Ann is a nurse and her family provided excellent care of Ruth from the time she was diagnosed at the end of May until she passed. Besides her children, Ruth will be missed by her grandchildren: Julia Taylor (husband: Christopher), Robyn Corner, David Dials, and Andrew Dials and her four great-grandchildren: Anthony, Jeremy, & Kylie Taylor and Chloe Corner. Ruth was always delighted to hear stories about what her grandchildren were up to and marveled at the smart and funny things they would do. During her career Ruth worked as a computer programmer for the Dept of Mental Health for the State of Missouri. She received an award for her 30 years of service and was greatly respected. Before she went to work, while her girls were young, she volunteered in their school library and was also very popular with all the elementary children. After retirement Ruth enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching the programs "NCIS" and "Murder She Wrote" on television. When Ruth was a young girl, there was nothing she liked more than going to the zoo. This love for the zoo as well as taking car trips anywhere-anytime lasted throughout her life and her daughters tried to fulfill that wish as often as possible. Ruth will be missed by her family.
