Sandra Jo West

RIO HONDO - Sandra Jo Anne West, 63, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. She was born on December 5th, 1953 to Eldon F and Betty Lou Shaw in Rock Island, Ill. She had four siblings, Dan, Patty, Shary, and Mike. She moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1980 where she raised her family. Sandra was an avid reader and spent her spare time crocheting. She also loved to be outdoors. Sandra especially enjoyed bird watching and she was a terrific gardener. Sandra and Bobby enjoyed spending their time fishing and hunting. She spent several of her years as an apartment manager in Harlingen and took great pride in being able to repair and maintain the properties on her own. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren riding around on the farm in the ranger. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Robert West, her children, Rachel Steffenhagen, Jennifer Villarreal (Lupe Villarreal) , Amber Ericson (Scott Ericson), all of Harlingen, her siblings, Dan Shaw (Debbie) of Minnesota, Patty Biedermann, Sheri Burns (Brad) of Missouri, Mike Shaw of Illinois, and her grandchildren, Nicole Villarreal, Madison Villarreal, Connor Ericson, Liam Ericson. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017, 3:00 pm at The Community Church, 122 Miramar Dr., Rio Hondo, Texas, 78583 with Pastor Chris Hall officiating the service. Funeral arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
