Mercedes- Sergio Caudillo Pacheco, a devoted husband and father, passed away on May 28, 2024, at his home in Mercedes. Born on October 7, 1955, in Matamoros, Mexico, to Jose Caudillo and Severiana Pacheco, Sergio's life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to his family. This quality resonated deeply with those who knew him.


Sergio was educated in Mexico and was working towards earning a teaching degree when he met his soulmate, Yolanda Vasquez. They were married in 1978, migrated to the United States, and spent the rest of their lives in Mercedes, Texas. Sergio stopped pursuing his dream of being an educator and went to work to support his family. 


Sergio was a hard worker. He was a fisherman at the Port for many years. Later, he transitioned to serve at Nuestra Clinica del Valle for over fifteen years. Though his path diverged from his educational pursuits in teaching to support his family, Sergio's commitment to his loved ones shone brightly through his hard work and perseverance.


Described as a fantastic father and husband, Sergio was known for his selfless nature. Always ready to extend a helping hand and share laughter through his jokes, his contagious smile and enormous heart left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Apart from his professional endeavors, Sergio found joy in simple pleasures. He took immense pride in his love for corridos music and watching mechanic videos. A passionate soccer fan, Sergio's unwavering support for Mexico during matches was a testament to his strong national pride.


Despite life's demands, Sergio remained deeply rooted in his hometown, La Venada, and his family. He treasured moments with his loved ones and visited as often as possible. 


Sergio was outgoing and friendly. He had a contagious smile and brought laughter to any occasion with a funny joke. Sergio had unwavering faith in God and lived a selfless life, always helping others. 


Sergio Caudillo Pacheco leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and laughter cherished by all who knew him. 


Sergio is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Severiana Caudillo, and his son, his father and mother-in-law, Antonio and Guadalupe Vasquez, Jose Caudillo; his siblings, Rafael Aguilar Caudillo, Reyes Caudillo, Evangelina Rosales, Jesus Caudillo, Petra Gonzales, Benito Raya, Marcos Caudillo, and Martín García. 



He is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Yolanda Caudillo; his children, Carolina Fuentes (Josias Diaz), Sergio Caudillo Jr. (Veronica), and Angel Caudillo (Paloma); his daughter-in-law, Diana Caudillo (widow of Jose), siblings, Maria de Jesus Caudillo, Anita Caudillo, Antonia Caudillo, Daniel Raya, Gloria Caudillo, and Roberto Caudillo Pacheco,  grandchildren, Jonathan and Nicholas Fuentes, Jasmine and Natalie Cortez, Savannah, Saharra, Sierra, Ocrisia, Saraya, Cleopatra, Leonidas, Athena Caudillo, Dominic, Isaac Caudillo, Angel Caudillo Jr., Dylan and Derek Gaytan, Elizabeth, and Ángel Caudillo III, one great-granddaughter, Avery G Fuentes, and numerous nieces, and nephews. 



Visitation will be held at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco on Thursday, May 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at McCaleb Funeral Home on May 31 at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes at 11:00 a.m.
