Severiana Elizondo

WESLACO: Severiana Elizondo, 89, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Severiana was born on September 5, 1927 in Candela, Coahuila. She married the late Rosalio Elizondo in 1945, and had 14 children. Severiana was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. Severiana loved good food and socializing. She enjoyed going to bingo and catching up with her friends. Her beautiful smile would light up a room. Severiana's hobbies included walking, yard work, and reading the bible. She also enjoyed spending time and caring for her grandchildren. Severiana is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Rosalio Elizondo, Sr, her sons: Rosalio Jr, Armando, Jose Luis Elizondo, and her daughter Gloria Gonzalez. She is survived by her children: Juan Elizondo (Marlene) of Indiana, Roman Elizondo of Indiana, Arturo Elizondo (Lupe) of Indiana, Yolanda Silva (Juan) of Weslaco, Norma Atilano of Indiana, Sylvia Ortiz (Rolando) of Weslaco, Rosa M. Valero (Esequiel) of Weslaco, Sonia Olivarez (Ben) of Houston, Hector Elizondo of Weslaco, Irma Gonzalez (Rene) of Donna, her step-daughter Elena Cantu (Mario) of Weslaco. Severiana has 35 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great- grandchildren. A very special thanks to Severiana's niece Maria De La Paz Martinez for providing very special care, attention, and love. Severiana will always be remembered as an energetic, loving, generous, and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. Visitation will be held Saturday & Sunday, March 4th & 5th from 2 - 9 PM, with a rosary at 7pm. Mass will be held on Monday, March 6th at 10AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Weslaco. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
