Shirley Morrow

WESLACO - Shirley Elaine Morrow 88, passed away on June 5, 2016. Shirley was born on February 7, 1928 to Brady and Ruth Cox. After graduating from Donna High School, she married Jimmy Leon Morrow. They had three children Gregory Allen Morrow of McAllen, Rhett Douglas Morrow of San Antonio and Jill Marie Morrow of Georgetown. Shirley worked for many years for three anesthesiologists in Weslaco. She loved her work. In the later years, she enjoyed being involved in many clubs. Shirley was not one to be just in a club but she was usually the president. Garden Club was her favorite. She loved all her flowers and plants, and her backyard was her pride and joy. Feeding wild birds was her passion. Shirley was an avid golfer and traveled the Valley playing in the Women's Valley Golf. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Weslaco where she sang in the choir for many years. She also sang with the "Sweet Adelines" of the Rio Grande Valley. Above all, Shirley will be remembered as a loving mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Brady Cox, brother Kim Cox, husband Jimmy Leon Morrow, and grandson Jeffery Alan Morrow. Her survivors include son Gregory Morrow and wife Debbie of McAllen, Rhett Morrow and his wife Tracie of San Antonio and Jill Morgan of Georgetown. Shirley had five grandchildren, Jason Morrow of Chicago, Heather Nordhaus of Katy, Holly Schuler of Round Rock, R.D. and Todd Morrow of San Antonio. She also had ten great grandchildren, Seth, Lilly, and Hudson Morrow, Bailey, Mason, and Reese Schuler, Colin, Morgan, and Wyatt Nordhaus and Perrin Morrow. The family would like to thank all the staff at John Knox Village for their excellent care and her doctor Leticia Volpe. Visitation will be at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco on Monday, June 6th, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Graveside Service will be held at the Donna City Cemetery in Donna on Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 at 10:00 am. Funeral arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
