Steve Smith

WESLACO - Steve A Smith passed away Friday July, 22nd in Weslaco TX at the age of 62. Steve was born in Amarillo TX. Being part of a military family he was able to live in many place in Texas, traveled to Germany and finished his youth in Norman Oklahoma. Steve always loved the water and moved to South Padre Island in the 80's where he started living his dream as a commercial fisherman. He also worked for one of the contractors who built Shallow Sport Boats. He meet Jacki Casady and her son Jaden in early 1990 and they were married in November. In the following December their daughter Stephani was born. They would raise them in Weslaco. He always dreamed of moving back to the island. Steve left a legacy of loving his kids, Jaden and Stephani, unconditionally. His love for the Lord and commitment to his family was out matched by none. Steve loved to spoil his children, especially when they were sick. He never missed a game, not matter the time or place. He was not only a father, but a mentor, coach and friend. Steve's idea of a perfect day was being out on their houseboat 'lil Shadee' fishing and snorkeling with his kids. Steve was also a handy man and could fix about anything. Steve spent the rest of his career as General Manager for AAA Custom Signage in Donna and was well known for his commitment and dedication to work. Steve was a son, brother, father, and a friend to all. Anywhere he went, he never meet a stranger, and was always the life of the room. If you asked anyone what they remembered most about Steve it would be his infectious attitude, cheerful smile, and witty humor. Steve was preceded in death by his parents James & Patricia Smith, his sister, Tracy and brother Randy, He is survived by his children Jaden and Stephani. The viewing is Monday, July 25th from 3-8 pm at McCaleb funeral Home in Weslaco. Family will be there from 5-7 for visitation
