Steven Edwin Storhoff was born March 9, 1951 to Harry Edwin and Mildred Storhoff in Duluth, MN. Steve, his brothers, and parents moved to North Dakota so his father could take over the family farm when he was 5 years old. He enjoyed sports during high school. He participated in track, cross country, and basketball. He was recognized as an All-Conference basketball player. Steven was a member of the HS choir and band where he was an outstanding tuba player as well. He was a member of the National Honor Society. Reading was another passion.
He graduated from Fingal High School as Salutatorian in 1969. He attended the University of North Dakota as a math major and then went on to Purdue University in Indiana to get his Master’s Degree. Steve’s first teaching job was in Belcourt, North Dakota. After a few years he decided to go back to college and get a degree in Computer Technology. Steven returned home to help care for his father during the final stages of cancer. After his father’s death, he moved to Weslaco, Texas in 1992 and began teaching at Weslaco High. Also taught in South Texas College. His mother moved to Texas in 2006 and lived with him until 2008.
Mr. Storhoff was 2012 Teacher of the Year. Steven went to be with Jesus, his Savior on March 29, 2016.
Steven is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Millie, and brother, Gary. Left to remember him are his brother, Gregory (wife Crystal) of Mount Ayr, IA; sister-in-law, Linda of Danbury, CT; nieces Danielle of Danbury, and Vanessa Smith (husband Brad) of Tingley, IA; nephews Wesley (wife Teresa) of Los Angeles, CA, Timothy (friend Pegge) of Grain Valley, MO and Garrett (wife Jamie) of Ames, IA. Great nieces include Byanca, Angelina, and Shaylinn Smith all of Tingley IA.
