Weslaco-Suzy Cano, 51, passed away after a long-term battle with diabetes on Tuesday, May 18th, 2021, at her home in Weslaco. Suzy was born on July 1st, 1969, to Alfredo and Lupita Cano in Weslaco.
After graduating from high school, in 1987, Suzy continued her education and became a nurse. She was a very caring and skilled nurse who was devoted to helping the sick, especially her pediatric patients. Suzy was passionate about her career and devoted over twenty years as a pediatric home health care nurse.
Suzy was crafty and had an eye for decor. She scrapbooked often and looked forward to Christmas time so she could go all out with her decorations. Suzy also enjoyed baking and shopping. Suzy also loved to travel with friends and family. Her favorite travel destination was Las Vegas and she made many trips there with friends and family throughout her life. She loved planning and sharing her trips with her nieces and nephews and they shared countless memories at Disney World and Vegas.
Family and friends will remember Suzy for her genuine compassion and love for others, including her pets. She led by example, and her actions demonstrated her friendly and selfless nature.
Suzy is survived by her parents, Alfredo and Lupita Cano, brother, Fred Cano, sister, Annette Cano Vasquez, nephews Andrew and Adam Vasquez, nieces Emily and Absidy Cano, and longtime companion, Mark Cantu. She is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, 3-9 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home.
