WESLACO - Trinidad Balboa Castillo, 91, passed away on September 14, 2014, in McAllen, Texas. Castillo, to his friends, and PoPo, to his family, was born in Raymondville, Texas. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He was kind, fair, and always willing to help people in need. Castillo was a man of few words, but when he spoke, his words had great meaning. As a young adult, he was a small business owner and auto mechanic. Mr. Castillo was well known by many law enforcement and public officials. He owned the Silver Star Night Club in Donna, Texas and a Philips 66 service station in Weslaco, Texas. After retiring he enjoyed sitting in his recliner watching “Wheel of Fortune,” “The Price is Right,” and Major League Baseball.
He is preceded in death by his Son, Trinidad “T.J.” Castillo, Jr.; Sister, Lucy Cardenas; Brother Elias Castillo; and Daughters-In-Law Sylvia Cuellar and Belinda Pena.
He is survived by his Wife of 47 years, Juanita “Janie” Castillo; Daughter Nora Barela and Son-In-Law Henry Barela; Grandchildren: Tina Williams, Freddie Barela, Erica Alatorre, Mario Lazo, J.B. Lazo, and Cesar Cuellar; Great Grandchildren: Kayla, Savannah, and Clayborne Williams; Brianna, Jozuah, and Serena Barela; Ashley, Aliyah, and Alaina Alatorre; Christina and Lauren Lazo; and Jeremiah and Matthew Lazo.
McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas is handling the funeral arrangements. Viewing is on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 and Sunday Sept. 7, 2014 from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The rosary is on Sunday at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held at San Martin de Porres Church at 10 am, on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014. He will be buried at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
