Edcouch / Kerrville- Vicki Roella Fuqua, 74, passed away at Peterson's Hospital in Kerrville, TX, on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023. Vicki was born on March 30th, 1949, to Royce and Hazel Fuqua in Elsa, Texas. She and her three siblings all grew up in Monte Alto, TX.
Vicki's passion for sports blossomed during her formative years as a young girl. Enthralled by anything outdoors, she wholeheartedly embraced every sport that came her way. While she dabbled in track during high school, it was on the basketball court where Vicki truly stood out like a radiant star. Labeling her as a superstar would be an understatement; she left an indelible mark by shattering numerous school records, a legacy that endures even in 2023. Vicki's alma mater, Edcouch-Elsa High School, still bears witness to the extraordinary heights she achieved.
Beyond her sporting prowess, Vicki actively engaged in other aspects of school life, contributing her time and dedication to the FHA and 4-H Clubs.
Vicki's story inspires all those who follow in her footsteps, as she exemplifies the power of dedication, perseverance, and an unyielding spirit in pursuit of one's passions.
After high school, Vicki worked at Rightway Foods, Knapp Sherrill, and finally, for her cousin, Dr. Michael Fuqua, at Advance Dental in Weslaco, Texas. She eventually retired and spent her later years in Kerrville, Texas.
Vicki was greeted in heaven by her parents, Royce and Hazel Fuqua, niece Cristen Coleman, cousin, Gay Fuqua, and several aunts and uncles.
She leaves behind her brothers, Royce Owen Fuqua (Norma) of Brownwood, TX, and Keith Estes Fuqua of Monte Alto, TX; One sister, Sherri Lynn Gallia (Bob) of Hallettsville, TX; One niece, Cynthia Lynn Stump (Michael) of New Braunfels, TX Their Daughter Mikayla Stump and one nephew, Royce Jeffery Gallia (Lisa) of Hallettsville, TX And their daughter Madison Gallia And Zeke Coleman of Hallettsville, TX Her aunt and uncle, Wayne and Shirley Fuqua of Rio Hondo, and cousin, Dr. Michael Fuqua (Laura) of Rio Hondo, TX.
Vicki was a kind, caring person who worked hard, loved people, sports, and being outdoors. She is now resting in peace in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
Vicki will be truly be missed by her friends and her family,
Visitation will be Sunday, August 6th, from 6 pm to 8 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, TX. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 7th, at 1 pm, at Val Verde Memorial Gardens, In Donna, TX.
