Weslaco- Virgilio Carrillo, 68, passed away on July 10th, 2016 in Soto la Marina, Mexico. He was born in Los Aldamas, Nuevo Leon, on October 7th, 1947 to Paula Hernandez and Olegario Carrillo. He was the first born and was the older role model to eleven other siblings. Virgilio began working at a very young age, working in construction. This is where he learned his work ethic that would shape his entire life. Virgilio married the mother of his children, Maria Felipa as young adults. They would have five children. He was always a great provider to his wife and children. He and Felipa would move to California and work in the vineyards and also starting their family. They had Virgilio Jr. first, a daughter, Carmel and then another son, Bernie. Then they moved to Florida, where Virgilio would learn and work in construction. They moved to Houston, where he would work in the oil industry for over seven years and they had another daughter, Jessica. They finally made their way back to the valley and settled in Weslaco and had one more son, Carlos Carrillo. Virgilio began working in construction and with his drive and dedication, he started his own company, where he would thrive. He provided a very nice life for his wife and kids. He would build them a beautiful home. Virgilio was a great teacher and he taught his boys the ins and outs of the construction business. He worked hard Monday thru Friday starting each day at 5am and working till dark. Virgilio did have hobbies. His favorite hobbies were fishing and cooking. He loved to fish. He taught all of the kids how to fish. He also loved to cook cabrito. He and his daughter, Carmel, shared the love of cooking and they share many memories of cooking and they were also very good at it. Virgilio also loved to go out and have a great time. Virgilio retired to Mexico about ten years ago, where he continued to work in agriculture. Virgilio is survived by his mom, Paula Hernandez and his step-dad, Vicente Hernandez, his children, Virgilio Carrillo Jr, Carmel Carrillo, Bernie (Noemi) Carrillo, Jessica Carrillo, and Carlos "Charlie" Carrillo, his grandchildren, Virgil Lee, Audrey, Eric, Cristopher, Mark, Kai B, Anakin, Bibiana, Dhariel, D'Carlo, Daethian, and Dalylah Jae, and his great grandchildren, Bayleen, Ariana, and Mia. Virgilio will always be remembered as a great provider and teacher.
