Wayne Walker

WESLACO - Wayne Walker, 83, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Christus Spohn Hospital in Alice, TX. He was born on July 30th, 1934 to Johnny Edward Walker and Opal Davis Walker in Weslaco. He graduated from Weslaco High School and spent a couple years at A&I in Kingsville. While in high school, Wayne began working as a foreman for his father's concrete company. He married Margie Fojt on April 30, 1960. Wayne followed in his fathers footsteps and spent most of his life supporting himself with his business, Walker Concrete. He worked a lot of hours and poured many concrete foundations in the valley and across Texas. Wayne took great pride in his work and checked on his jobs for years in the future. He loved to play dominoes and read. He was also an avid hunter and his favorite hunting was doves and quail. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Opal Walker, brother, Earl Walker and sister, Wilma Walker White. He is survived by his wife, Margie, his children, Cheri Mertens of Corsicana, Steve Walker (Staci) of Schertz, Eileen Mannix (Sean) of Cedar Park, and James Walker of Dallas, his grandchildren, Amber Cameron (Robert), James Robert Evans (Tricia), Gabriella Novotny (John), Danielle Brignac (Jesse), Colette Leyva, Forrest Walker, Lisette Aikman (Ian), Hunter Walker, and Catalina Esquivel (Joe), five great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
