Weslaco- William L. “Bill” Davis, 86, passed away April 30, 2014 at his residence in Weslaco.
He was born May 29, 1927 and Bucyrus, OH. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Upon his discharge from the US Navy, he started his career with the H.U.D. Housing Department for 30+ years and retired in 1972 as a result of an industrial accident. He moved to the Weslaco area in 1980 and began a second career in real estate. In 1988, married Mary Edith Walterbach and together they developed several mobile home parks in the Valley. He is survived by his wife, Mary Edith Davis of Weslaco ; his only son, William Davis of Mount Vernon, OH; and 3 grandchildren, Rebecca, Jacob and Benjamin, all of Mount Vernon, OH. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to a charity of their choice. Arrangements are under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
