William C Nicol

McAllen- William "Bill" Charles Nicol, 66, changed his permanent address unexpectedly on Friday, June 23rd, 2017, to his eternal home with Christ. Bill was born in Davenport, Iowa, to JW Nicol and DaisyRambo Nicol. He moved to Edinburg as a toddler, where he was raised with his sister, Mary and step-brother, George. Bill learned how to work hard at an early age. He lost his mom at the early age of eight years old, so he had to grow up a little quicker than most kids. He was very driven and after graduating from Edinburg High School, he went to college for a while, but he was more focused on work and he was driven to succeed. He worked as a dispatcher at Jimmy Cowart Truck Brokers, where he would meet the love of his life, Kay Lynn. They were a perfect match so they married soon and opened their own company, Bill Nicol Transportation. With Kay Lynn's book knowledge and Bill's hard work ethic they were destined to succeed. They have enjoyed working side by side for over twenty years and were a blessing to each other. Bill worked hard all of his life and Kay Lynn had just enough influence to convince him to take a break every once in a while. He always commented that he didn't shoot his first deer until he married Kay Lynn. They certainly complimented one another. Bill and Kay Lynn spent a lot of time on their motorcycles, a passion they shared, even riding them all the way to Las Vegas. They went hunting together and Bill was able to shoot many deer after a while. He loved to hunt for turkeys, he was just an avid outdoors man. Above all else, Bill was a child of God and had a servant attitude. He was a faithful Christian and worshiped at the Methodist Church, where he gave his tithes, time, love and compassion. He was very active and always one of the first to volunteer, especially when it involved cooking. He was most active with the Kairos Prison Ministry, lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry in which men and women volunteers bring Christ's love and forgiveness to prisoners and their families and this was very dear to his heart. He spent long hours volunteering with this group. Bill is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of twenty two years, Kay Lynn, his daughters, Lindsay Guest of McAllen, Lori Rodriguez of Alamo, Leah Johnson (David) of Amarillo,son, Lane Dougherty of Weslaco, his granddaughters, Alexis, Sabrina, Nadia, Olivia, and Evelyn Maldonado, his grandsons, Casey and Trevor Guest, Gabriel Dougherty, Davin and Kaison Johnson, his step-mom, Janette Nicol, and his beloved dachshunds, Roxy, Ashes and Zookie, who will be lost without daddy. A celebration of life (as per Bill's request), will be held on Thursday, June 29th, from 5-8 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home with a meal being served at 6pm in the reception area. Bill will always be remembered as a caring, compassionate Christian man who gave his all at everything he did.
