Yolanda Posada

February 2, 1940 — July 5, 2024

Weslaco

Yolanda Posada, a woman of unwavering strength and unending love, passed away on July 5th, 2024, at Kaweah Health Medical Center in Visalia, California. She was born on February 2nd, 1940, in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, to Ricardo and Julia Tienda De La Cerda. Yolanda's life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and devotion to her family.

She met her soulmate, Serapio Posada, in Weslaco. Yolanda worked as a field laborer, and Serapio worked as a welder for a manufacturing company. They were married on November 27th, 1954. Soon after they were married, Yolanda and Serapio started a family.

Yolanda's love for her family was unwavering and deep. She continued to work in the fields to help support their growing family. Despite working from sun up to sun down, Yolanda would return home and create savory meals for her husband and children. Then, she would ensure the home was immaculately clean and wash clothes by hand. Yolanda's culinary skills were legendary - her fried chicken could rival any gourmet dish. Her culinary skills were natural, and Yolanda instinctively created her recipes so they were not easily duplicated. She was also a talented seamstress, and her ability to sew and create beautiful garments showcased her talent and creativity. Yolanda's dedication to her family was unmatched. Often, she would do without so that the children would have what they needed. Yolanda was nurturing, strong, and independent. Her joy came from seeing the satisfaction on her family's faces.

Yolanda and Serapio relocated to their hometown of Weslaco in 1982, where they spent the rest of their lives.

She had a passion for solving word search puzzles. Her many books had to meet challenging criteria, and Yolanda would spend hours working on them. She also enjoyed watching cowboy movies, with Clint Eastwood being one of her favorites. Yolanda loved music; Elvis Presley and Juan Gabriel were two of her favorite artists. Finally, Yolanda was a huge football fan. She cheered on the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams every chance.

Yolanda also had a patriot's heart; Yolanda cherished the American flag and took pride in its meaning. She followed the political climate closely and was ahead of most in that area.

Finally, the most essential thing in Yolanda's life was her faith and belief in God. Yolanda was a born-again Christian and knew that the only way to heaven was to accept Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. Yolanda was comforted to know that she would be delivered from her earthly body to her Heavenly body, pain-free and basking in the beauty and Glory of her Savior. Yolanda's faith helped her to care for her mother, who battled colon cancer for many years. Yolanda provided comfort and care that was only possible because of her peace.

Yolanda is preceded in death by her parents, Ricardo and Julia De La Cerda; her loving husband of sixty-four years, Serapio Posada; brother, Alberto De La Cerda; great-granddaughter, Adrienne Hernandez; and daughter-in-law, Guadalupe Posada.

Yolanda Posada leaves behind a legacy of love and determination that will forever be cherished by those who knew her. She is survived by her children, Richard Posada (Guadalupe+), Carlos Posada (Eva), Jesse Posada, Lydia Posada, Yolanda Serrato (Vincent), and Jose Posada; sister, Maria De La Cerda; sister-in-law, Sara De La Cerda (wife of Alberto), ten grandchildren, Richard Posada Jr., Lupe Posada, Blanca Posada, Jesse Maeshiro, Robert Maeshiro, Jesse Posada Jr., Julian Posada, Ashley Posada, Adan Serrato, Jennifer Marie Curtis, great-grandchildren, Robert Maeshiro, Catalina Alicia Maeshiro, Yolanda Charlotte Maeshiro, Angela Hernandez, Noa Delgado, Jalynn Posada, Carolina M.
