WESLACO - On May 3rd, 2022, Zoe Sherry Gray passed away to return to her heavenly home with her Lord Jesus Christ. Her devotion to her faith supported her throughout her life.
Zoe was born to William Terry and Lillie Cora Douthit Barbee on March 10, 1930. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Dale Barbee. Zoe and her husband, Kenneth Sherry, had 3 daughters, Zana Sherry, Trice Sherry, and Kendell Sherry Aaronson with grandchildren, Justin Aaronson, Shay Piecek, Seth and Ro Aaronson, Becca and Anthony Davis and great-grandchildren, Kaija, Myles, Hana and Sylvie. She also considered their German exchange student, Brigitte Weiner, as "one of her own" as well as Brigitte's husband, Michael, and daughters, Viktoria and Sophia.
Zoe was a graduate of North Texas State University. She taught Special Education for over 20 years in the Weslaco School District. She was an active member of PEO and Literary Review.
She always enjoyed participating in John Knox Village activities with her loving companion and friend Alan Bonsen. Zoe devoted her life to her daughters, her cats, and sewing. Her greatest passion was to capture and document all the history and events of her life, family, and friends through shared photographs.
Zoe was loved and respected by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and fun-loving spirit. She put a unique creative spin on everything she touched.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted by Pastor Chris Voss on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Weslaco City Cemetery, located at 1001 S. Illinois Avenue.
